Exhibition showcases University’s research excellence

The diverse and exciting range of research projects being undertaken by staff at the University of Bedfordshire’s seven research institutes have been displayed at a special poster exhibition. The ‘Research Poster Day’ which ran last week at the University’s Luton campus, featured subjects ranging from social work, cryobiology and business, to health, media and the creative arts. Guest judge Chris Barnes, Chief Executive of Bedfordshire and Luton Economic Development Partnership, along with the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Les Ebdon, awarded prizes for the best entries. Awards went to exhibits that attracted instant attention and clearly captured the message of the research.

The prize went to Hamdan Dhanhani for his project on responses to natural hazards in the UAE. Chris Barnes said: “There is a much wider range of quality research going on in the University than I realised and much of the research has the potential to be exploited locally by our businesses.”Following the positive feedback, the University plans to open next year’s exhibition to the public to enable the wider community to learn more about how such research can benefit them and impact on their lives.
